Passion Salad

My husband and I just celebrated our anniversary. I hadn’t put much thought into arousing foods before but being a foodie I thought this is a perfect time to explore that.  I researched foods that could help set the mood and combined a few for this tantalising bowl of passionate produce that may improve the romance in your life. Whomever thought a salad cannot be sensuous hasn’t seen this! If nothing else at least you’ll be a little healthier and being at your utmost in wellness, feeling good about yourself and your partner is the ultimate aphrodisiac. Have you heard the saying ‘the brain is the biggest or most important sex organ’? I’m not a psychologist so here’s a link to an article about this here

So then a little mood setting and presentation can’t hurt. Why not try it for your next dinner for two?

Passion Salad

To create this bowl: (all foods with * are considered aphrodisiacs)

We start with a bed of mixed greens and add rinsed cucumbers sliced lengthwise. Take the tender tops of the *asparagus and blanch them in boiling salted water till crisp tender (about 4-5 minutes) then drain and add to a prepared bowl of ice water to stop the cooking. Drain again and add to the salad. Add as many *pomegranate seeds as desired (I added half a large pom) A few *figs (dried or fresh depending on the time of year), *celery (1-2 stalks chopped), *strawberries (4-5) *almonds (handful) and *avocado (1/2-1)

For the dressing:


  • 1/4 cup *olive oil
  • 1 tbsp *pumpkin seed oil
  • 1/4 cup orange juice
  • 2 tbsp balsamic vinegar
  • 1 tbsp *honey
  • 1 tsp grated *ginger
  • pinch or two of *garlic powder
  • pinch *cinnamon
  • salt and pepper

Place all these ingredients into a glass bottle with a lid and give it a shake then pour desired amount over the salad. Enjoy!
