Anti-Inflammatory Smoothie

Recently my son experienced a minor knee injury. The doctor said the time to heal was 2 weeks with no high impact sports and applying a topical anti-inflammatory medicine 3 times a day. It’s hard to keep any high energy person from their sport or movement so we followed those instructions and I thought I would use the added benefits of food to heal from within as well. So I composed this smoothie to start the day with. Every ingredient is high in immune-boosting, anti-inflammatory, vitamin and mineral packed goodness! Not to mention it’s super hydrating, fibre-rich and tastes good too. It’s a great breakfast smoothie if you feel parched in the morning as well.

I just love using aloe vera juice as base liquid to this smoothie as well as the well-known healing benefits of aloe it gives it a wonderful fresh floral scent but doesn’t taste like flowers.

A note on storing fresh turmeric and ginger: They freeze well so you can place them in a freezer bag and cut off a piece or shred it into whatever dish you need.

    • 1 frozen banana
    • 1 inch piece of ginger
    • 1 inch piece of turmeric
