Beet-Rose Latte

What’s better to enjoy life in the pink than a pink latte?

A recipe for the beet lovers! Lovely nutrient filled beets! With hydrating rosebud tea. Are you eating or drinking something for the health benefits or for the taste? I’d say first we eat with our eyes and then our taste buds, the nutrients are a bonus. A common phrase I’ve heard: “It tastes good aaaand it’s good for me?!” Sooooo good! Beets are high in manganese, magnesium, folate, potassium, vitamin C and iron. Rose petals contain antioxidants and vitamin C. I just love the taste though!

If you’ve been following my blog for any amount of time you may have noticed my affinity for beets and roses. They, of course, in my taste buds go together beautifully. There is a bit of a trick though in getting the delicate rose flavour to shine through what can be an intense beet flavour. Not so much a trick as seeking balance within the cup. I think I’ve found the balance! This worked for me but there are some beets that have a very earthy flavour that can be a bit overpowering. You have some choices: know your beets before adding them, whether they are sweet or earthy, or use a beet powder or beet crystals that you are familiar with and enjoy the taste, or use less beet than rose or just don’t care and see what happens! I chose adding more rose than beet and it worked nicely. This is a basic recipe that you may need to play with to attune to your taste buds. trying more beet or more rose as you desire with what’s available to you.

You will want to have a frother for frothing the milk. This is the one I use:

I use a manual one as I don’t need to worry if the batteries run out and I can also bring it places where there may not be electricity like camping. If you prefer, here’s a link to all the milk frothers on Amazon, electric, manual, battery powered.
